Biography

I am a a self taught artist who has endeavored to escape a working lifetime of technical drawing. My Clarice Cliff style of painting in acrylics, focuses mainly on landscapes and seascapes.

I believe that one of the drawbacks of being self taught is that it makes it harder to break into the traditional art 'set' but the benefits come from the self exploration involved in producing a piece without a set of rules.

I have always been drawn to bright colours, I like to experiment and have dabbled with driftwood and wire sculpturally, and encaustic wax art but always return to vivid colours that can be achieved most readily with acrylic paint.

Viewing my painting as a happy recreational pastime, I'll continue to develop and hope to experiment with other media too in the future.
